This English heirloom was new to me last year, and it’s back again for 2011<\/a>. That is good news for Miss Tigerella. What an amazing plant. I brought it home last year on the recommendation of the good folks at Tomatomania<\/a>, and as always, they did not disappoint. This very vigorous grower produces bunches of red tomatoes with yellow stripes. With their moderate size, about 6 ounces, and firm texture, they are excellent slicers – and their tangy tomato flavor makes them perfect for use in salads, sandwiches and antipasti. Give this vigorous indeterminate 85 days, and she will reward you with a profusion of fruit all summer long. A note – another tomato is sometimes referred to as Tigerella – that is the very large bicolor heirloom, Mr. Stripey<\/a>. Double check the name marker on your plant, and if in doubt, ask your nurseryman.<\/p>\n
