transforming it into a surprisingly refreshing, but very adult, afternoon libation.\u00a0 Tip off your guests to what is in their glasses with a whimsical watermelon and basil garnish.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" rel=\"2828\" href=\"https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Aperol-Drink-640x512-4508_181.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2824\" title=\"Aperol Drink\" src=\"https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Aperol-Drink-640x512-4508_181.jpg\" alt=\"Aperol Drink\" width=\"640\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Aperol-Drink-640x512-4508_181.jpg 640w, https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Aperol-Drink-640x512-4508_181-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Aperol-Drink-640x512-4508_181-500x400.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>La Rosalia<\/em><\/h4>\n<h6>makes 1<\/h6>\n<p>1\/3 cup cubed watermelon (1\/2 inch cubes)<br \/>\n1 ounce Aperol<br \/>\n1 ounce basil simple syrup (recipe follows)<br \/>\nclub soda<br \/>\nice<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" rel=\"2828\" href=\"https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Aperol-Drink-488x640-4480_183.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2826\" title=\"Aperol Drink\" src=\"https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Aperol-Drink-488x640-4480_183-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Aperol Drink\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Place cubed watermelon in the bottom of a mixing glass, and muddle thoroughly.\u00a0 Strain into a chilled 16 ounce glass.\u00a0 Add Aperol and basil simple syrup.\u00a0 Stir to combine.\u00a0 Fill glass 2\/3 full with ice.\u00a0 Or if you prefer bits of watermelon in your drink, make the drink, start to finish, in your serving glass.\u00a0 Top with club soda and garnish with a watermelon wedge and a sprig of basil.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Notes: If you have an ice crusher, this is the place to use it.\u00a0 The soft ice you get is perfect in this long drink.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Basil Simple Syrup<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" rel=\"2828\" href=\"https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Basil-0450_151-640x480.jpg\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2718\" title=\"Basil\" src=\"https:\/\/adribarrcrocetti.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Basil-0450_151-640x480-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Basil\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Simple syrup is quick and easy to make and has many different uses in the kitchen or at the bar.\u00a0 It can be plain, just sugar and water, or it can be flavored with anything from anise to vanilla, or as here, basil.\u00a0 Plain, it is the ideal sweetener for cold drinks &#8211;
